Sattam Alsubaiee

Center of Excellence for Complex Engineering Systems

Dr. Alsubaiee is currently an Assistant Professor at the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). He is the co-director of the Center for Complex Engineering Systems (CCES) at KACST and MIT. His area of expertise includes Big Data management systems and analytics, scalable storage and search engines, indexing and query processing techniques, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Prior to joining CCES, Alsubaiee worked on the Apache AsterixDB and Hyracks open-source projects as a key member, focusing on building scalable Big Data systems.

In addition, Dr. Alsubaiee worked as a Software Engineer at X15 Software, a startup in the Bay Area, that was acquired by FireEye. At X15 Software, Dr. Alsubaiee worked in designing and implementing next-generation Big Data management solutions targeted for large-scale machine and log data.

Alsubaiee received his bachelor degree in Computer science from King Saud University. He then received a master degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. Alsubaiee completed his PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine.
